Department: Tutoring Center
Job Description: The CSCI Peer Tutor assists students at North Hennepin Community College with computer science coursework by explaining programming concepts, supporting problem-solving, and reinforcing effective study strategies. Tutors work with students individually or in small groups during scheduled tutoring hours and help promote independent learning and academic success. Eligibility Requirement: Candidates cannot be eligible for Federal Work-Study or other financial aid employment programs.
Wage: $15 per hour
Job Qualifications:

Not work study eligible (international student)

Enrolled at least half-time (6 credits) at NHCC

Academic Standing: Minimum GPA of 2.7 for tutors (2.5 for front desk staff)

Holds: No academic, financial aid, or other institutional holds or suspensions

Course Completion: Earned an A or B in the course(s) they wish to tutor and provide a faculty reference

Skills: Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work with diverse students

Attitude: Positive, supportive approach and commitment to following departmental and NHCC student handbook policies
