Overview
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for connecting to the eduroam wireless network on Windows 11 devices. Eduroam is the official, secure Wi‑Fi network for NHCC students, faculty, and staff. Using the native settings lets you avoid the CAT installer, while still ensuring a strong, authenticated connection.
Instructions
Step 1: Open Wireless Networks
- Click the Wi‑Fi icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner).
- From the list, select eduroam.
- Check Connect automatically, then click Connect.
Step 2: Verify Security Certificate
- A certificate prompt may appear.
- Click Show certificate details, then confirm:
- Issued to:
eduroam.metrostate.edu
- Issued by:
InCommon RSA Server CA 2
- Important: If these details differ, do not proceed. This could be an “evil twin” Wi‑Fi attack. Report any discrepancies to the Helpdesk.
- If the certificate matches, click Connect.
Step 3: Enter Your StarID Credentials
- When prompted, input:
- Students:
StarID@go.minnstate.edu
- Employees:
StarID@minnstate.edu
- Password: Your StarID password
- Click OK to authenticate.
Step 4: Confirm Connectivity
- Your device will now connect to eduroam.
- Confirm by checking the Wi‑Fi icon or returning to the network menu—it should display Connected.
