This guide walks you through configuring the eduroam Wi‑Fi network on Chrome OS devices (Chromebooks, Chromeboxes, etc.) using the Configuration Assistant Tool (CAT). This method ensures secure and automatic setup of network settings. 

Instructions

Step 1: Download the CAT Installer

  1. Open your Chrome browser and go to:
    https://cat.eduroam.org
  2. Click “Click here to download your eduroam® installer”.
  3. Choose Minnesota State Colleges and Universities from the list.
  4. Click the eduroam® button to begin the download.
  5. Click Continue on the disclaimer screen.
    • The profile file eduroam-chromeos-MSCaU.onc will download.

Step 2: Load the ONC Profile

  1. Open Chrome and navigate to: chrome://network
  2. Under Import ONC File, click Choose File.
  3. Select the downloaded file (eduroam-chromeos-MSCaU.onc).

Step 3: Enter Credentials & Connect

  1. In the network settings, verify these settings:
    • EAP method: TTLS
    • Phase 2 authentication: PAP
  2. Scroll to the Identity section and enter:
    • Students: StarID@go.minnstate.edu
    • Employees: StarID@minnstate.edu
    • Password: your StarID password
  3. Click Connect

Step 4: Verify Connection

  • Look for the Wi‑Fi icon in the bottomright system tray showing you are connected to eduroam.
