Job Description:
The Tutor-Mentor will serve as a role model to high school students in Upward Bound, which is a college access program supporting 50 students from Brooklyn Center, Park Center, and Robbinsdale Cooper high schools. The Tutor-Mentor will have the unique opportunity to gain experience working directly with high school students, event planning, and completing administrative duties. Responsibilities include: Assist in developing and implementing team building activities and college/career workshops for high school students; Perform office tasks such as filing, data-entry, organizing student documentation, and creating flyers; Organize and stock office and program supplies; Chaperone occasional field trips off-campus; Support high school students in their academics by assisting with homework and teaching effective study habits; Maintain confidentiality; Perform other duties as assigned.
Wage: $15 per hour
Job Qualifications:
- Must be work study eligible.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
- Preferred: Experience working or volunteering with youth from diverse populations, especially high school-aged students.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to take direction, and work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn student-facing and computer-facing skills.
- Flexible scheduling – but must be available to work occasional Saturday events (dates set far in advance, approximately 6 Saturdays during the academic year).
