Job Description
This position provides students with hands-on experience participating in the development and execution of ongoing psychological research projects.
Student employees will work closely with faculty and other student researchers to support various stages of the research process, including developing research questions, reviewing research literature, assisting with study design, collecting and organizing data, and learning basic data analysis and interpretation skills.
This position is an excellent opportunity for students interested in psychology, behavioral science, neuroscience, research, graduate school, or careers that involve data collection and analysis.
Wage: $15/hour
Primary Responsibilities
Depending on the needs of ongoing research projects and the student's level of experience, responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with the development and implementation of psychology research projects.
- Helping identify and explore potential research questions.
- Conducting literature searches and assisting with reviews of psychological research.
- Assisting with the development of research materials, surveys, questionnaires, and other study instruments.
- Supporting participant recruitment and communication, when appropriate.
- Assisting with data collection and organization.
- Entering, cleaning, coding, and managing research data.
- Learning and applying basic principles of quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis.
- Assisting with the interpretation and presentation of research findings.
- Creating tables, graphs, summaries, or other materials to communicate research results.
- Participating in research lab meetings and discussions.
- Maintaining organized research records and materials.
- Following ethical guidelines related to psychological research, confidentiality, and responsible conduct of research.
- Completing other research-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
- Eligible for Work Study
- Current NHCC student in good academic standing.
- Interest in psychology, behavioral science, neuroscience, research, or related fields.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow directions and complete tasks responsibly.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with faculty and other students.
- Basic computer skills.
- Willingness to learn new research methods and data analysis techniques.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow ethical research practices.
